The qualities and spirit of the much-praised Woodlands school system that serves those nine neighborhoods are probably best summed up by what a graduating student had to say about her experience at one of the high schools:
“The Woodlands High School is a fantastic place to go to school. We recently won the Lone Star Cup, meaning that we have superior academics and athletics. And our band consistently places in the top 10 in the nation. Almost all of the teachers here care about what they are teaching and about their students themselves. Although it’s a big school, there are still plenty of resources for everyone to be successful. There are opportunities to get leadership roles with student council and different clubs. And the overall climate is very accepting of minorities and different religions, so there are opportunities for every student to succeed and also have fun while attending school here. Go Highlanders!”

The Woodlands / Houston region also has several specialty colleges and technical schools to consider including the MD Anderson Cancer Center, recognized as the #1 cancer center in the world. It is part of Houston’s Texas Medical Center, which has the largest concentration of healthcare and medical research institutions anywhere, 54 of them, with many of their staff being University of Houston pre-med and nursing school graduates.
